Gatekeeper Role

Seven has messaged me about getting post review abilities so that they can get mafia invites onto the forum faster. Currently I'm inclined to give it to them, although I'd rather have Ratammer for this role because they are much more active.

What are the people's thoughts on this request? Good/bad idea? Someone else who wants the role?

Ratammer would do an outstanding job of properly approving posts I'd think.

I have known Seven a long time (10 years) and I trust them with the role.

As a completely unbiased person I'd be fine with either or even both of them getting the role. We should ask ratammer if she even wants it though

Hi! I'm not involved with any of the mafia stuff so Seven would probably make more sense for that, but I wouldn't object to having the role too (and kind of honoured that so many people would be okay with that)!

Actually, now that I think about it, it's been ages since I actually saw a spambot in the review queue (probably because I changed the anti-spambot task), so maybe we don't actually need the queue at all.

That would require substantial moderator permissions, though, to remove spam after it's been posted.

maybe best to keep to having two extra approvers. people join rarely enogh that it should be ok and spambots will sometimes figure out captchas

Just to clarify, the "good middle ground" is to keep the review queue but add two extra "gatekeepers", correct?

Also, I should probably include some info from the logs, since y'all can't see it:
- The last disapproved post in the moderator log was in January.
- The next disapproved post after that (and the last one that was definitely a spambot) was in October 2022.
- Since my mass deactivations in April 2022 (which deactivated all of the spam accounts that registered before the spambot task got changed), only two accounts have been banned as spambots.

I still think we should leave the review queue. There is something about having to be approved that makes it feel like you're accepted into an exclusive club.
