Title text: Researchers claim to have synthesized six additional elements in the second row, temporarily named 'pentium' through 'unnilium'.

Those first four are all you really need to know anyway. After that, it starts to get a bit boron.

I think I prefer the term "eka-helium" to "unnilium"

If you have a periodic table new enough to have carbon, you can look at its atomic weight. On older tables, some of the carbon-14 will have decayed, making carbon's atomic weight lower.

Sadly no, this is just chirrd making an OTTification alternate version of the comic. Trust me, I'm an expert on comics that change slowly over time.

It's something that I would have posted in the "ITT: We Make xkcd Slightly Worse" thread on the old forum, where people would post edits of xkcd comics.

All of mine (from the old forum and this forum) are at https://chridd.nfshost.com/xkcdsw/, and everyone's up to mid-2014 is on http://xkcdsw.com/

Why not make an XKCDSW thread in this forum?

I am sorry to say I am not reading through all that. And I was catching up on Time when the old forum died.
