I think most of these were first-year calculus things, and the person I was staying with was taking calculus. (Also I think one of them was just "x".)
I was thinking about solving these, at first by putting the answer up next to them, but there was no equals sign. I found two things that looked like those symbols that were straight lines (like, minus signs, and I could use two of them to make an equals sign), and I started taking one to one of the equations, but then I realized it was probably something different (it was a bit thicker and shaped a bit differently, so maybe it wasn't one of those magnet things), and also I wasn't sure if I should do this because that would reveal the answers (which might have been homework problems).
Then I looked for a piece of paper to write on, thinking I could write down the answers. I went into a different part of the room, and there was a built-in table along the walls, and there were various things on the table with space in between. I found a pile of stuff that was mine that included paper (I think notebook paper), and I took a piece of that, and a clipboard that I'd been given earlier when asking for something hard to write on. The clipboard was semitransparent and green, although I couldn't quite tell that in this light, and I was kind of surprised I was given it, since it seemed like it would be valuable/rare/expensive.
