In ages past on the Time thread, people got in the habit of putting the attachment itself in a spoiler tag labeled "redundant" at the bottom of their post, with an [ img ] tag where they wanted the picture to actually appear in their post.

(This involves previewing the post and copy-pasting the url of the image to put in the img tag.)

AFAIK this is the only way to avoid showing the filename.

(Later, people also started putting an extra bonus image in the spoiler tag to surprise anyone who bothered to open the "redundant" spoiler anyway. The first ones were pictures of cats with the caption "i told u wuz redundant. why u no believe me?" These were called redundakitties. It was a whole thing.
