General Covid thread

For all things pandemic, vaccination, disrupted plans, etc.

Next week I'm going to be returning to working in the office, after working from home since March 2020! I'm pretty excited to go back - there's a lot I miss about being in the office, and maybe two things I prefer about working from home.

Of course, a covid thread would be one of the first topics to be created.
But it is one of the 'most popular events' in the world right now, so it's totally understandable and expected.

I was lucky enough that I didn't have to work a single day from home.
There were days when there were only 2 people (including me) on the whole floor of the building, at work.
Strange feeling.

Where I live some places are starting to require face masks again in public and work is requiring masks again. Bring on the acne!

Plans changed at the last minute - I won't be going back to the office next week :(

Basically any federal workers, contractors, or businesses with 100+ workers will be required to be vaccinated or get a negative COVID test result once a week.

Are Covid tests free over there? Otherwise this is just making the vaccine mandatory, but with extra steps

There are plenty of places that offer free COVID testing, but I believe this will cause big companies to have to spend their own resources to make sure there is COVID testing for their employees that the company can verify the results.

Only by thinking of the day when it would come to an end.

Even vaccinated, it's been weird to walk down the street and worry about people not wearing masks in addition to them not respecting personal boundaries.

Stupid virus ruined my Thanksgiving weekend. On the bright side, getting the plague and coming through okay kinda gave me the impetus I needed to start writing a proper novel, and that's been going well.

I has the Covid :(

I've been waiting for today for ages for a concert I've had tickets for since 2019 that kept getting pushed back due to the pandemic, and now I can't even go.
